The Bride

I walked into the dark tunnel despite knowing the possibilities for me to be stucked in danger. I was too eager to care, I wanted to see by myself what had been haunting the villagers these days. A corpse of bride was found by a local man few months before. It is said that the corpse was dressed in a white gown, a long veil was on her head, her face was decaying and maggots squeezed out from her rotten flesh. The villagers were terrified upon hearing the news. Since then, no one dares to step any nearer to the tunnel hidden in the forest, except me. I was a daredevil and this is what I had been looking forward to after so long.

I had a long rope in my hand, ready to be tied on the bark of a tree as I venture into the tunnel. I would not lost since the end of the rope would be tied around my waist, that was the plan. I used my torch to light up my way in the stinky tunnel. Creepy crawlers were running free in the dark. The tunnel branched into two or three more smaller tunnels inside, leading the way to somewhere I was not sure of. I took the path that suits my instinct until then my torch started to flicker, it was a good sign. I let it shut off and started to call out for the bride but nothing happened in reply.

Suddenly, my torch slipped of my hand. I bent down to pick it up from the mossy ground but a stale breath was blowing behind my neck as I stood up. I turned around to find a bonny figure standing weak in a grubby ground. She sobbed and then smiled, "found me," she said softly. Her hands reached out for my neck but I fought her back, she was yet so strong. She cried out loud telling it was unfair, begging me to give her my soul.

Bloods streaming out of her eyesacks that were empty. She wanted to pay a revenge to whom had killed her before the wedding day, her future husband. Out of the blue, she vomited bugs and insects that ran towards me. He tongue snaked out into my mouth, she was trying to steal my soul. I let out a high pitch shriek before kicking her torn abdomen. Without turning back, I ran as fast as I could, following the trail of my rope but it was cut off in the middle. I started to panic to found her floating above me, her long veil almost touching my head. "found you," she whispered, her words echoed into my ears.
